Chinese New Year RBI Style

2/24/2018

Every year RBI held the Chinese New Year Celebration and it was a blast.  We invited local Indonesian Vendors to sell Indonesian food (pre order and on the spot), we had games and beautiful photobooth by Emil Harsa who always came up with great pictures and of course, Dragon Dance....the classic Chinese New Year celebration mascot and tradition.

It was cloudy day but great ambiance with lots of food, laughters and friendship.

Special thank you to Eurasia and the Teh family for the generous donations.

Once again, RBI participated in the Annual Asian Festival 2018 in San Antonio, TX.  This time we went with the big group..30 dancers and about 20 people who helped us with preparation, make up, food, transport, etc.  We are very grateful with all the supports and help that we have been getting.  So much appreciated.

We performed 5 Dances... Penyembrama Dance from Bali by RBI Teenagers, Ondel Ondel Dance by RBI Kids, Kupu Kupu Dance by RBI Kids, Indang Rebana Dance by RBI Women and Manortor by RBI women.  We practiced hard and persistent to perform the best we can.  And we rock the stage! We had big applause and it was a big success!

Thank you for all who had dedicated their time, talents, money, etc for this to be continued and successful. We did it together for our beloved Indonesia.

Saturday, November 4th 2017 our Rumah Budaya Indonesia dancing groups performed at the Indonesia Culinary Festival 2017 in Houston, TX.  It took place at the Consulate General of Indonesia front parking ground from 1:00 - 7:00PM.  We performed twice, first was the Plate Dance (Tari Piring) from West Sumatra.  The dancing was very dynamic and the costumes were so bright with gold and metallic blue colors.   The second one was a dance from North Sumatra, Tor Tor Dance.  It was also a dynamic dancing with singing and stomping feet.  Was very exciting to presence Indonesian traditional dances.
